Who runs this site

FreeEMTTest is an independent study-resource publisher. We are not a school, not the National Registry, and not affiliated with any state EMS office. The site is part of a small family of free career-prep resources that includes Free CNA Training, Pharmacy Tech Test, and Trade Schools Review, built on one idea: the information you need to start a skilled career should not sit behind a paywall or an email gate.

Everything here — the 115 practice questions and the 10 state requirement guides — is free to use, with no signup and no credit card.

How our practice questions are written

Every question is written to the public NREMT cognitive exam plan — Airway, Respiration and Ventilation; Cardiology and Resuscitation; Trauma; Medical, Obstetrics and Gynecology; and EMS Operations — and grouped into an NREMT-style exam simulator plus topic drills. We do not use real NREMT items; those are confidential and secured by the National Registry. Instead, we write original questions and check each one three ways:

• The clinical fact is verified against a primary reference — the NHTSA National EMS Education Standards for scope and terminology, and current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for CPR, AED, and resuscitation numbers.
• Exactly one answer is defensibly correct, and the distractors come from real field confusions — the wrong airway adjunct, a compression rate that is close but off, a treatment that is right for a different patient — because that is how the real exam tests judgment.
• Every question ships with a written explanation that teaches the underlying protocol or reasoning, not just the letter of the right answer.

When guidelines change — a CPR rate, an airway indication, a protocol — we correct the affected questions rather than leaving stale content up.

How we source state requirements

Each of the 10 state guides is built from primary sources: the state EMS office's own website, its statutes and administrative rules, and its published fee and renewal schedules. Every state page lists the sources we used, with the date we accessed each one, so you can see how current the page is and check it yourself.

Just as important is what we don't do: where a state EMS office does not publish a fee, a CE requirement, or a minimum age, we say so and point you to the office — we never fill the gap with a guess. If a detail on this site conflicts with your state EMS office, trust the office and tell us so we can fix it.

Corrections policy

Requirements and guidelines change, and we would rather hear about an error twice than miss it once. If you spot anything wrong or out of date — a question, a fee, a broken EMS-office link — email info@freeemttest.org or use the contact page, and include the page URL. We review every report, correct confirmed errors, and update the affected page's review date.
